16 going on 17? Get on track to a motor career with Bedford College
Wednesday 19 April 2017
Teenagers from Herts, Cambs and Northants travel to Kempston to attend full-time study programmes at Bedford College's Vehicle Technology Centre in Triumph Way on the Woburn Road Industrial Estate.
It is a regional destination for young petrol heads who want to test a wide range of disciplines from mechanics to body work and painting, before specialising. After achieving a Level 2 qualification, they can progress on to a Level 3 qualification in their chosen area or apply for an apprenticeship.
“There are various options open to those who come to us at 16 and work their way towards their Level 2 qualification,” explained Head of Department for Motor Vehicle, Anthony Scott.
“The important thing to remember is that we have the best equipment and tutors who, like myself, have been on the same journey and understand the requirements of the modern motor industry scene today. We work with some of the biggest names in motor manufacturing, but also train apprentices who are joining a family or friend’s firm where they need a range of skills.”
