Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship at Bedford College

This Advanced apprenticeship is ideal if you have some knowledge of administration systems and you want to develop your skills to implement and monitor administrative procedures and systems, perhaps with the aim of moving into a management role at some stage. Advanced apprentices may work in roles such as administration executives/officers, administration team leaders, personal assistants and secretaries. Tasks you will be required to undertake will vary depending on your level and sector, but may include producing business documents, contributing to the organisation of events, developing and delivering presentations and providing reception services.

Entry requirements

Grade requirements:

You will need four GCSEs at grades A*-C or 9-4, including English Language and maths.
Other requirements: There will also be an initial assessment to enable you to demonstrate your full ability.

Course content

During this apprenticeship you will study a range of topics, including:

  • Communicate in a business environment 
  • Manage personal and professional development 
  • Principles of business communication and information 
  • Principles of administration 
  • Principles of business 

Assessment methods

You will be assessed in the work place through observation, case studies, work product and witness testimony, as well as exams in College.

Qualifications

You will gain the following qualifications:
Business & Administration City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma

Further study and career options

Further study: On successful completion you could progress on to the Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in Business & Professional Administration. Alternatively you could move into further or higher education to undertake business related or other qualifications, including Foundation Degrees in business, business management, or business administration.
Future careers: With additional training, you may be able to progress in your career to roles including office manager, administration team leader, personal assistant or a wide range of managerial roles within business.

Additional information

When you are in College you will need to bring pens, notepaper and a folder. There is a course book available from City & Guilds, which you can purchase should you wish to.
