Health & Social Care NVQ Level 2 Diploma

This course assesses the development of knowledge and skills relating to the health and social care sector. The qualification is made up of purely vocational units and will be able to confirm your competency as part of your CPD within your current job role in areas such as: mental health, dementia, learning disabilities and general health care.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Course content

To achieve this qualification, you must complete a minimum of 46 credits. You must achieve all 24 credits from Group A, a maximum of 7 credits from Group B and at least 15 credits from Group C.

The mandatory units are:

  • Introduction to communication in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings - 3 credits
  • Introduction to personal development in health, social care or children's and young people’s settings - 3 credits
  • Introduction to equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings - 2 credits
  • Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings - 1 credit
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care - 3 credits
  • The role of the health and social care worker - 2 credits
  • Implement person centred approaches in health and social care - 5 credits
  • Contribute to health and safety in health and social care - 4 credits
  • Handle information in health and social care settings - 1 credit

Further study and career options

As well as progression to further qualifications such as Health & Social Care NVQ Level 3 Diploma, you may also progress to employment in a wide range of administrative roles as this qualification provides evidence of achievement of a range of practical skills, understanding and knowledge in the health and social care environment.
