Leadership in Children and Young People's Settings CACHE Level 5 Diploma

This qualification is for those who work as managers in children and young people’s services. It will guide and assess development of knowledge and understanding and skills in management practice. Candidates will work in residential services for children, adoption and fostering services, community based services and nursery managers. A flexible programme with workplace delivery. This is a unique Level 5 course for managers in childcare and young people’s settings.

CACHE

Entry requirements

A Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Youth Work is desirable.

Course content

Learners must achieve 80 credits to complete the qualification within a 2 year period. Learners will enhance their management skills and develop strategies in communications of policies and procedures within the care sector.

Units include:

  • Develop an implement policies and procedures
  • Professional development
  • Champion equality and diversity
  • Communications
  • Health and safety and risk management.

There is a catalogue of optional units to chose from according to the individual work experience and career pathway.

You will also learn:

  • Use and develop systems that promote communication
  • Promote professional development
  • Champion equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Develop health and safety and risk management policies, procedures and practices in health and social care or children and young people’s settings
  • Work in partnership in health and social care or children and young people’s settings
  • Understand children and young person’s development
  • Lead practice that supports positive outcomes for child and young person development
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to support the safeguarding of children and young people
  • Lead and manage a team within a health and social care or children and young people’s setting
  • Develop professional supervision practice in health and social care or children and young people’s work settings
  • Lead practice in promoting the well-being and resilience of children and young people
  • Plus a range of optional units for the relevant pathway

We would recommend as working with Children that a Paediatric First Aid Course be completed.

Assessment methods

A range of assessments which will be co-ordinated according to the individual learning needs of the applicants. Methods will include: written assignments, direct observations of learners skills, professional discussion and oral questioning.

Further study and career options

This qualification is recognised as acceptance as entry requirements for a number of HEI programmes in both childcare and young peoples qualifications.
