IT Application Specialist Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3

This apprenticeship will provide you with the competence, skills and knowledge required to work effectively and efficiently with IT systems, communications and productivity tools and applications in a range of job roles and industry sectors. It will combine the practical hands-on experience of the workplace with the knowledge and understanding gained through a college course. You will decide, along with your employer, which units you choose to study, relevant to your job role such as specialist software, using collaborative technologies and optimising IT system performance.

Entry requirements

Grade requirements:

You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grades A*-C or 9-5, including English and maths.

Course content

During this apprenticeship you will study a range of topics, including:

  • Improving productivity using IT 
  • Understanding the Potential of IT
  • Developing personal and team effectiveness using IT

Assessment methods

You will be assessed through building a portfolio of evidence.


You will gain the following qualifications:

IT User Skills Level 3 Diploma

  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Functional Skills in English and Maths
Further study and career options

Further study: You could undertake further professional qualifications to aid career progression or move on to higher education.
Future careers: On successful completion of this course you can move into an IT support position in a small-to-medium-sized business.

Additional information

You will also have the opportunity to take additional professional certifications; these professional certifications will incur an extra cost.
