Construction BTEC HNC (part-time)

This course is designed for those wishing to progress within the construction industry and aims to give you a solid understanding of the management and leadership roles within this sector. During your studies you will gain the knowledge that underpins a wide range of aspects of construction management, including regulatory, legal, technological, social and economic considerations.

Entry requirements

You will need:

  • 32-48 UCAS points from relevant Level 3 qualifications OR
  • Construction, Civil Engineering or Building Services BTEC Level 3 Diploma OR
  • Equivalent Level 3 qualification.

We welcome applications from mature students who will be considered individually on experience rather than qualifications.

Course content

During the course you will have the option to study a range of units including:

  • Design principals and application
  • Health, safety and welfare
  • Project management
  • Science and materials.

You will also undertake a number of specialist units and a group project.

Assessment methods

You will be assessed via a range of methods during the course including written and practical assignments plus classroom tests.

Further study and career options

This course will provide you with the skills that enable you to pursue a range of career opportunities within the construction industry, including roles within architecture, building and quantity surveying and construction management. You can also progress on to further study through other construction-related HNDs and Foundation Degrees at the College, or construction sector degrees at universities across the UK.
