Environmental Conservation NPTC Level 2 Diploma
This course will offer you a great opportunity to train with experienced professionals in the workplace and it will provide you with the skills and knowledge required by employers in the conservation and environment industry. You will be able to choose a pathway that will suit your skills, including environmental conservation or access and recreation.
To begin this course you will need two GCSEs at grade A*-D and be employed full-time in a relevant job role. There are also qualifications and courses that will help you understand the sector prior to starting, such as a Level 1 Award in Practical Environmental and Conservation Skills, or a Level 1 Diploma in Work-based Environmental Conservation. It would also be beneficial if you have previous voluntary or working experience within the environmental conservation industry.
This Apprenticeship will consist of:
- A competence-based element, where you will study to achieve a Work-based Environmental Conservation Level 2 Diploma
- Knowledge-based multiple choice tests, which are based on three units from the Diploma
To achieve the Work-based Environmental Conservation Level 2 Diploma you must achieve a minimum of 37 credits.
A range of units are available to study during the course, which may include:
- Establishing plants or seeds in soil
- Plant nomenclature, terminology and identification
- Preparing ground for seeding and planting
- Hedge laying
- Hedgerow planting
- Environmental conservation
- Access and recreation
Your knowledge of the core units within the main qualification will be assessed and developed by completing a portfolio of work.
Further study and career options
On successful completion of this course you will have the opportunity to progress into employment in the industry, or onto more advanced courses in a relevant subject.
