Mechanical Engineering BTEC HNC (part-time)

This course is suitable for those wishing to study a Level 4 Mechanical Engineering course on a part-time basis, or as part of their company apprenticeship/training programme.

Entry requirements

You will need:

  • 2 A-Levels at grade A*-C in Mathematics and Physics, OR
  • Mechanical Engineering BTEC Level 3 at Merit or above, including Further Maths, OR
  • Equivalent Level 3 qualification in a related subject.

We also welcome applications from mature students who will be considered individually on experience rather than qualifications.

Assessment methods

Teaching and learning are achieved by means of formal lectures combined with integral assignments and projects which allow students to develop and diversify their skills. Assessment and examinations are continuous throughout the course.

Further study and career options

On successful completion of the HNC you can progress on to further study with our HND or choose to enter employment.

Additional information

During the course you will need to attend college for one day per week over two years. Additional study will be required outside of College.
