Principles of Plant Growth, Propagation & Development RHS Level 2 Certificate
This sixteen week part-time Level 2 course is designed by the Royal Horticultural Society. This qualification provides a route to employment in professional horticulture and supports career development for those already working in the profession. It can be combined with the RHS Level 2 practical qualification and the principles of garden planning, establishment and maintenance to form a full Level 2 qualification. The course is written to develop skills and knowledge desirable to the horticulture industry. The RHS is an internationally renowned society and has developed these courses to promote the professional skills of horticultural enthusiasts and professionals.
There are no formal qualifications required but candidates must be able to undertake written assessments and an external exam.
The course will focus on more advanced principles of horticulture and the skills and knowledge needed to become an experienced horticulturist. This course will form an excellent basis for learners with some prior gardening knowledge. This course contains a majority of classroom based teaching.
This course will cover:
- Plant classification, structure and function
- Plant nutrition and the root environment
- Maintaining plant health
- Understanding plant propagation.
Assessments will be via end of course exams set by the RHS.
Further study and career options
On completion of this course students may progress onto the RHS level 2 qualification in garden planning or the level 3 qualification in plant growth.
