Exercise & Fitness Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3

The Advanced Fitness Apprenticeship is ideal if you already work in the health and fitness industry and wish to continue your professional development to become a qualified personal trainer with industry experience. If you are looking to enter the sector in a supervisory or managerial role, this course could be for you. You will experience paid employment within the fitness industry as a personal trainer, earning a salary and gaining valuable experience in the workplace whilst learning and gaining commercially recognised qualifications.  You will also be able to build a client base and reputation within their employment.

Entry requirements

You will need at least a Grade C at GSCE in Maths and English as well as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor. 

Course content

The Apprenticeship will focus on preparing you for employment within the fitness industry.  You will learn about Anatomy and Physiology, Health and Safety and designing exercise programmes, while gaining experience working in a leisure environment.

You will study to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Personal Training
  • Level 3 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning
  • Level 2 Functional Skills (English and Maths).

Assessment methods

You will be assessed by a range of methods including, observations, written assignments, professional discussions, question and answer, and multiple choice exams.

Qualifications

Personal Training Level 3 Certificate

Plus…

  • Personal Training Level 3 NVQ Diploma
  • Level 3 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning
  • Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT (if required)
Further study and career options

You will be able to progress on to a Higher Level Apprenticeship or foundation degree, or go straight into employment as a personal trainer.

Additional information

You will be at your work placement four out of the five days per week.
