E-Teaching & Learning Gateway Qualifications Level 3 Award
This Level 3 course is for people who are already teaching and want to improve their use of ILT/ICT. It has been developed as a CPD qualification for those working in a teaching role to gain a better understanding of the use of e-learning and to develop and evaluate e-teaching resources to enhance their own teaching practice. It is an ideal CPD course for teachers wanting to develop and evaluate a range of teaching, learning and assessment methods and approaches to using ILT/ICT particularly within the teachers own specialist subject area. It will be studied as a 15 week part-time course.
The Level 3 Award in e-Teaching & Learning (QCF) is categorised as having the following objectives:
- giving learners personal growth and engagement in learning
- a CPD qualification that an individual can undertake to enhance their role in the workplace and that may be relied upon by employers
This qualification is intended for any Teachers, Lecturers, Tutors, Assessors or Internal Verifiers who are involved in the delivery of Electronic (E) materials. There are no prior qualification requirements for this course, although learners will benefit from having current teaching/training experience.
The qualification will be awarded to learners who successfully achieve one mandatory unit through a portfolio of evidence that has been successfully verified. Achievement is therefore determined by successful completion of unit assessment with no further requirement for additional/summative assessment.
This course provides vocational and practical perspectives of teaching, learning and assessment using ILT/ICT. The objectives are:
- Be able to evaluate e-learning tools and technology
- Be able to develop interactive e-teaching resources
- Be able to share resources online using e-tools
- Be able to develop online multi-media content
The course is ideal for candidates who wish to improve the use of ICT/ILT within their own teaching programmes. This qualification allows candidates to learn, develop and practise their personal skills in E-Teaching & Learning.
The method of assessment for the qualification is through a portfolio of evidence. The qualification is appropriate for people above the age of 19. There is no requirement to be observed doing any practical teaching.
Further study and career options
On successful completion of the Level 3 Award in E-Teaching & Learning, learners could progress to the Level 5 Certificate in Information and Learning Technology (ILT) in the Lifelong Learning Sector: (Awarded by the University of Bedfordshire). This course will enable teachers to demonstrate meeting the FELTAG requirements for online learning content within their own teaching. This course may also be used to provide evidence for accrediting professional development.
